Black History Month: More than Slavery

Hi. How are you? Welcome back to one more day, from the Canary Islands to the world, with a new episode of this podcast about human rights or other curiosities. A pleasure to be here.

Black History Month offers a wonderful tool  to intentionally recognize and celebrate the immeasurable contributions of Black people in America. Nearly a century ago, Carter G. Woodson founded Negro History Week in 1926 to coincide with the birthdays of abolitionist Frederick Douglass and President Abraham Lincoln. This initiative eventually expanded into what we now observe as Black History Month each February.

And with this I conclude today's episode; see you in the next one!

If you have any comments or suggestions for future episodes, you can write me a comment.
