Hi. How are you? Welcome back to one more day, from the Canary Islands to the world, with a new episode of this podcast about human rights or other curiosities. A pleasure to be here.
In Europe we have had interreligious conflicts, where communities of different faiths clash. One of them was the Northern Irish conflict (also known as "The Troubles"), a nationalist inter-ethnic armed conflict in Northern Ireland.
It faced, on the one hand, the unionists of Northern Ireland (of Protestant religion, majority in the region), decided to preserve ties with the United Kingdom, and on the other hand the Irish republicans, mostly Catholics and demographically minority, supporters of the integration of the territory into the Republic of Ireland, following a campaign by the Northern Ireland Civil Rights Association to end discrimination against the Catholic minority
It must be horrible not being able to even live in a neighborhood because of faith or whatever. Do they not believe in the same God? It seems that religion is the excuse for something territorial.
Fortunately, not without problems, both parties sat down and shared the Government
