Hello, how are you? Welcome to this podcast, from the Canary Islands to the world.
In this episode, I delve into the lives of those who defy distance, language, and fear. Migrants who left behind the familiar to embrace the unknown. You'll hear stories of everyday courage, of human beings reinventing their world, of young people transforming rejection into strength. Because migrating isn't just about moving: it's about rebuilding.
As much as I want to distance myself from my professional past, it always comes back to me at just the right time to remind me not to abandon raising awareness.
At the Red Cross, I had 83 migrants to assist, thanks to my internship as a sociocultural facilitator, even though I was already a specialist in immigration. Why am I sharing this? Because there's a perception that all migrants from Africa or the Middle East are Muslim. I can attest, quite literally, that there were Christians and even some animists among my first volunteer work.
I find it hard to understand why people assume that all migrants from Latin America are Catholic, especially since evangelical Christianity is currently experiencing significant growth in Spain.
If you have any doubts, ask. Don't judge.
Thank you for joining me on this journey of humanity and resilience. If this story touched you, please share it. And if you have a story to tell, write to me. Until the next episode!
