SPECIAL | CHAPTER 2: Gender Violence in Türkiye

There is a treaty that legally obliges signatory countries to criminalize sexist violence and to allocate resources to combat it.

A treaty called the "Istanbul Convention" and the Ottoman country decided to leave.

But what is the reality? 362 women have died as a result of violence, according to the Anitsayac online registry.

The situation is so strong that measures have been taken against demonstrations in favor of women's rights: actions to prevent the march on November 25. In Istanbul, the governor's office closed metro stations, while in Diyarbakir protests were banned. In previous years, the Police repressed demonstrations with violence, and this year was no exception. Women's rights activists were reportedly detained in several provinces on the day of the protests.

And then Spanish men say that they are discriminated against.
