¿Melchor, Gaspar o Baltasar? Uno de los 3 no pasará la frontera

Según la tradición de la Iglesia occidental, ya sabemos que hay 3 Reyes Magos, que más que Magos, por una mala traducción, eran sabios. Pero esto no es importante para mí.

Imaginen a tres reyes ricos viajando por el desierto hoy. Dos son recibidos con los brazos abiertos; al tercero lo detienen para interrogarlo. Esta no es una historia bíblica, sino una crisis migratoria moderna. Sin duda, y en teoría, si aplicáramos la Ley de Extranjería, sólo 2 podrían pasar por la frontera, básicamente haciendo un muy racista  perfil étnico: Melchor y Gaspar son representados como blancos y a Baltasar como negro.

Y ahí las autoridades, con sus prejuicios, dejarían pasar a 2 y detendrían a Baltasar...a no ser que tengan visa de oro...que lo dudo.

Pero se equivocan:  Melchor se representa generalmente como un anciano blanco con barba por las personas provenientes de la zona europea y ofrece al Niño el oro por la realeza de Cristo. Gaspar representa a la zona asiática, pese a que se le representa como blanco y pelirrojo y porta el incienso por la divinidad de Jesús. Baltasar es negro en representación de África y regala al Salvador la mirra, sustancia que se utilizaba para embalsamar cadáveres y símbolo de la humanidad del Señor.

According to Western Church tradition, we already know there are three Wise Men, who, due to a mistranslation, were more accurately described as wise men. But this isn't important to me.

Imagine three wealthy kings travelling through the desert today. Two are welcomed with open arms; the third is detained for questioning. This isn't a biblical story but a modern migration crisis. Undoubtedly, and in theory, if we applied immigration law, only two could cross the border, essentially creating a highly racist ethnic profile: Melchior and Gaspar are depicted as white, and Balthazar as black.

And there, the authorities, with their prejudices, would let two through and detain Balthazar...unless they have a golden visa...which I doubt.

But they're wrong: Melchior is generally depicted as an elderly white man with a beard by people from European countries, and he offers the Christ Child gold as a symbol of Christ's kingship. Gaspar represents the Asian region, even though he is depicted as white and red-haired and carries frankincense, symbolising Jesus' divinity. Balthazar is black, representing Africa, and presents the Saviour with myrrh, a substance used to embalm corpses and a symbol of the Lord's humanity.

Nach der Tradition der westlichen Kirche wissen wir bereits, dass es drei Weise gab, die aufgrund einer Fehlübersetzung genauer als „weise Männer“ bezeichnet wurden. Aber das ist für mich nicht wichtig.

Stellen Sie sich drei wohlhabende Könige vor, die heute durch die Wüste reisen. Zwei werden mit offenen Armen empfangen; der dritte wird zur Befragung festgehalten. Dies ist keine biblische Geschichte, sondern eine moderne Migrationskrise. Zweifellos und theoretisch könnten, wenn wir das Einwanderungsrecht anwenden würden, nur zwei die Grenze überqueren, was im Grunde ein stark rassistisches ethnisches Profil erzeugen würde: Melchior und Gaspar werden als weiß und Balthasar als schwarz dargestellt.

Und dort würden die Behörden mit ihren Vorurteilen zwei passieren lassen und Balthasar festhalten … es sei denn, sie haben ein goldenes Visum … was ich bezweifle.

Aber sie irren sich: Melchior wird von Menschen aus europäischen Ländern im Allgemeinen als älterer weißer Mann mit Bart dargestellt, und er bietet dem Christuskind Gold als Symbol für Christi Königtum an. Gaspar repräsentiert die asiatische Region, obwohl er als weißhäutig und rothaarig dargestellt wird und Weihrauch trägt, der die Göttlichkeit Jesu symbolisiert. Balthasar ist schwarz und repräsentiert Afrika. Er überreicht dem Erlöser Myrrhe, eine Substanz, die zur Einbalsamierung von Leichen verwendet wird und die Menschlichkeit des Herrn symbolisiert.

Imaginez trois rois fortunés traversant le désert aujourd'hui. Deux sont accueillis à bras ouverts ; le troisième est arrêté pour être interrogé. Il ne s'agit pas d'un récit biblique, mais d'une crise migratoire contemporaine. En théorie, si l'on appliquait le droit de l'immigration, seuls deux pourraient franchir la frontière, créant ainsi un profil ethnique profondément raciste : Melchior et Gaspard sont dépeints comme blancs, et Balthazar comme noir.

Et là, les autorités, avec leurs préjugés, laisseraient passer deux personnes et arrêteraient Balthazar… à moins qu'ils ne possèdent un visa doré… ce dont je doute fort.

Mais elles se trompent : Melchior est généralement représenté comme un vieil homme blanc barbu par les Européens, et il offre de l'or à l'Enfant Jésus, symbole de la royauté du Christ. Gaspar représente la région asiatique, même s'il est représenté blanc et roux et qu'il porte de l'encens, symbolisant la divinité de Jésus. Balthazar est noir, représentant l'Afrique, et présente au Sauveur la myrrhe, substance utilisée pour embaumer les cadavres et symbole de l'humanité du Seigneur.

وهناك، ستسمح السلطات، بتحيزاتها، لاثنين بالمرور وتحتجز بلتازار... إلا إذا كان لديهم تأشيرة ذهبية... وهو أمر أشك فيه.

لكنهم مخطئون: يُصوّر ملكيور عادةً كرجل أبيض مسنّ ملتحٍ من قِبل الأوروبيين، وهو يُقدّم الذهب للطفل يسوع رمزًا لملك المسيح. يمثل غاسبر المنطقة الآسيوية، رغم أنه مصور باللون الأبيض والشعر الأحمر ويحمل البخور الذي يرمز إلى ألوهية يسوع. بالتازار أسود اللون، يمثل أفريقيا، ويقدم للمخلص المر، وهي مادة تستخدم في تحنيط الجثث ورمز لإنسانية الرب.

Indubbiamente, e in teoria, se applicassimo la legge sull'immigrazione, solo due potrebbero attraversare il confine, creando essenzialmente un profilo etnico altamente razzista: Melchiorre e Gaspare sono raffigurati come bianchi, e Baldassarre come nero.

E lì, le autorità, con i loro pregiudizi, ne lascerebbero passare due e trattenerebbero Baldassarre... a meno che non abbiano un visto d'oro... cosa di cui dubito.

Ma si sbagliano: Melchiorre è generalmente raffigurato come un anziano uomo bianco con la barba dai paesi europei, e offre al Bambino Gesù l'oro come simbolo della regalità di Cristo. Gaspare rappresenta la regione asiatica, anche se è raffigurato bianco, con i capelli rossi e con in mano l'incenso, simbolo della divinità di Gesù. Baldassarre è nero, rappresenta l'Africa, e offre al Salvatore la mirra, una sostanza usata per imbalsamare i cadaveri e simbolo dell'umanità del Signore.
