The case of violence against a girl, who was burnt, has unleashed a wave of reactions, but what some aren't saying is that certain people are using this event to fuel hate speech and xenophobia. How are they doing this? By taking feminist messages, distorting them, and using them to attack entire groups.
I've found several posters that use feminist phrases and symbols to legitimize a xenophobic message. But there's a problem: the same rhetoric that denies gender-based violence and the existence of feminism is now being used to sow further division.
Gender-based violence is an issue that affects women of all ages, races, and backgrounds. It is not a 'one-community issue. Using the suffering of one victim to attack another group is not only cruel, but deeply contradictory.
We are facing a double injustice: the manipulation of tragedy to generate hatred, and the denial of the feminist struggle that seeks to make gender-based violence visible and eradicate it. It is essential that we do not allow these narratives to grow. We must all act responsibly.
Therefore, I have decided to denounce these posters and the message they are conveying. Violence has no place in our society, much less hatred and discrimination. Let us not allow them to manipulate us. If we truly fight for equality and justice, we must debunk these narratives and protect the truth.
