BOOKS OF THE WORLD | Confucius: The Master Who Taught Thinking

Hi everyone, and welcome to this podcast, coming to you from the Canary Islands and reaching listeners across the globe.

This series is a journey through literature without borders. In each episode, we dive into a book, an author, or a literary movement from different parts of the world. Because books are passports too, and every story carries us closer to new cultures, languages, and ways of seeing life.

What can a philosopher who lived more than 2,500 years ago teach us? Much more than you might imagine. Confucius didn't write adventure books, but he changed the intellectual course of an entire civilization. From ancient China, his ideas about wisdom, respect, and harmony continue to travel the world... and today they reach this podcast. Get ready to discover why Confucius remains, even today, an eternal master.

Imagine ancient China, more than 2,500 years ago. In dusty villages and streets filled with merchants, a man emerged who sought not wealth or power, but questions. His name: Kong Fuzi, whom we in the West know as Confucius.

Confucius didn't write great novels or experience war adventures. His legacy was ideas. He taught that harmony begins in the family, that respect is the foundation of society, and that to govern well, one must lead with virtue, not fear.

His thoughts were compiled by his disciples in *The Analects*, a book that is much more than philosophy: it is a practical guide to living better. From the importance of education to everyday courtesy, his message crossed generations and borders.

Today, millions of people find in Confucius a beacon of timeless wisdom. Because his words continue to remind us that true knowledge lies not in knowing everything, but in recognizing what we have yet to learn.

That’s the end of today’s episode. Thank you so much for joining me on this literary journey. Until next time, may the stories you read take you further than you ever imagined.

If you have any comments or suggestions for future episodes, I’d be delighted to hear from you.
