If there is one thing that is not well understood, it is why descendants of migrants, or migrants themselves, are capable of expelling other people who decided to make the exact same choice: to seek a better life.
Basically, the only explanation that comes to my mind is that they are privileged individuals who have forgotten their own migration process and do not want to share resources.
As an immigration specialist, I am particularly interested in the psychological aspect, which often tells me these are unconscious defense mechanisms.
There is a hierarchy: "I was here first," and a dichotomy: good vs. bad.
