ICE, or Immigration and Customs Enforcement, is the agency charged with enforcing immigration laws in the United States. Founded in 2003, its stated mission is to protect the nation from terrorism and enforce immigration laws.


What about the comparison with the Gestapo? The Gestapo, the secret police of the Third Reich, operated without judicial oversight, using surveillance, intimidation, and forced disappearances to eliminate opposition to the regime. Although the circumstances are different, the tactics of repression and social control have certain similarities.
