Hello, how are you? Welcome to this podcast, from the Canary Islands to the world.
Stories of struggle, resilience, and hope from migrants seeking a better future, facing cultural, legal, and personal challenges in a new world.
He arrived in a country where he knew no one. He slept in a room with five other people. He washed dishes, carried boxes, swept floors until dawn. He ate just enough. He dreamed of returning, but returning well. With gifts. With success.
Time passed. The savings account never grew. Friends from there stopped asking. Those from here began to whisper: "And this one? Wasn't he doing so well?"
After a while in another country, he returned with just one suitcase. No house. No car. No papers. No money. He returned empty-handed, his face more wrinkled, and a certainty stuck in his chest: "I failed."
Returnig was worse than leaving. Because he returned without showing what everyone expected of him. No one said anything out loud... but they all said it with their eyes.
He didn't bring money with him: he brought with him an uncomfortable silence. And a story that no one wanted to hear. Because it wasn't the success story they had hoped for.
And with that, I end today's episode. I'll see you in the next one!
