MIGRANT LIVES| It Is Easier to Swallow than Chew

Hi everyone, and welcome to this podcast ,  coming to you from the Canary Islands to listeners around the globe.

Stories of struggle, resilience, and hope from migrants seeking a better future, facing cultural, legal, and personal challenges in new horizons.

What happens to the brain that triggers so much hatred? Until recently, you might have thought it was boredom, weariness, and frustration. But when you hear teenagers talk about indoctrination, sing fascist songs, and even threaten teachers, it makes you reconsider: yes, indoctrination has taken place, but they haven't even realized it, because far-right groups make you believe your ideas are valid, when before you felt ignored. They've simply recruited them to their cause.

Neuroscientists and political scientists describe the psychological mechanisms by which we assimilate proposals and actions that would have previously provoked our indignation and end up permeating broad sectors of society. It's simply the answer that's easy to swallow, without the effort of chewing (thinking).

And with that, I conclude today's episode. See you in the next one!
