Stories from Horror: Tefía, Spain, a Fake Agricultural Penal Colony

Welcome to this episode. Today we cross the border one more day;  lives that move, dreams that never stop, and challenges that affect us all. What drives someone to leave everything behind? It's not just about crossing borders, but the human cost paid in the soul, the body, and broken dreams. The answer is here. Stay to find out.

Known as an agricultural penal colony, a name given to hide its real nature: it was a concentration camp active between 1954 and 1960.

It is estimated that the colonies housed common and political prisoners, but above all, the purpose was to educate male homosexuals. The repression of homosexuality, a behavior that Franco considered undesirable, as is often the case with any totalitarian regime, was legalized by the 1954 amendment to the Vagrants and Criminals Act, which allowed for one to three years in prison for homosexuals, considered a social danger. They were confined in so-called work centers, real forced labor concentration camps, where they were subjected to inhumane conditions, including work to the point of exhaustion, beatings, corporal punishment, and starvation.
