Hello, how are you? Welcome to this podcast, from the Canary Islands to the world .
Stories of struggle, resilience, and hope from migrants seeking a better future, facing cultural, legal, and personal challenges in new horizons.
In this episode, I talk about deportation: what is it? When and how does it happen?
Deportation is the expulsion of a person or group of people from a place or country. The term "expulsion" is often used as a synonym for deportation, but its use is usually restricted to the context of international law, while deportation refers to national law.
When? Being in irregular situation during two or three years and being deported because applications for residence permits are denied, and it is also a lengthy process.
How does it happen? Through detention, they are identified and transferred to the CIE (Immigrant Detention Center), where they can remain for two months, for voluntary return.
And with that, I conclude today's episode. See you next time!
