STORIES FROM HORROR| Exclusion by Design: The Hypocrisy of No-Go Zones

Hi there. Welcome to this podcast, from the Canary Islands to the world,

This is a raw and unfiltered look at the darkest chapters of history. In each episode I explore dictatorships, hate crimes and terror regimes that left indelible scars on humanity. Silenced voices, forgotten memories and uncomfortable truths that need to be told.

Recently, a wave of attacks has been unleashed against all types of minorities, whether migrants or members of diverse groups.

What's curious is how some communities that complain about supposed "no-go zones" in Europe—Muslim-only neighborhoods, they claim—are replicating that same model in the United States, creating white-only neighborhoods.

A contradiction that deserves to be analyzed: This has deep psychological roots. Often, fear of the "other" becomes a way of projecting internal insecurities. This is what is known in psychology as projection: when someone rejects or fears something about themselves, they expel it outward, toward those who are different.

A phenomenon called cognitive dissonance also plays a role: that is, when a person's actions conflict with their values or beliefs, they tend to justify them with irrational arguments to reduce that internal discomfort. Thus, those who criticize exclusion end up excluding, without seeing the contradiction.

And that concludes  today's episode, see you in the next one!
