BOOKS OF THE WORLD| "Dikan" or "take the initiative". Ghana

Hi there. Welcome to this podcast, from the Canary Islands to the world,

This is a literary journey without borders. Each episode I explore a work, an author or a literary movement from different corners of the planet. Because books are also passports, and each story brings us closer to different cultures, languages and realities.

Today I am telling you about a wonderful project whose goal is to collect thousands of picture books from the African continent. This project is called "Dikan": or "take the initiative."

In addition, they will work to digitize and preserve African visual heritage.

Just because a culture doesn't have written literature doesn't mean it's less of a culture.

And that concludes  today's episode, see you in the next one!

If you have any comments or suggestions for future episodes, feel free to drop me a comment.

LIBROS DEL MUNDO| " Dikan" o “toma la iniciativa". Ghana

Hej.

Well. I've already finished the September exams, corresponding to the ones I failed in January. The truth is, they were very easy, perhaps because I spent the last three months studying a lot, not just the theory, but also doing a lot of exercises. Now I'm exhausted, but happy. And I'm already thinking about a small personal project I want to start in January.

Gassing. Inakke lebba ngasemmi ujiang bulang sampulo anse're, sangkamma ujiang ku gagal ri bulang se're. Sikontutojenna, anjo ke'nanga sanna' gampangna, gassingka nasaba' tallung bulang allaloa jai kupelajari, teai bawang teori, mingka jai tongi kugaukang latihang. Kamma-kamma anne sanna'mi roso'na, mingka sanna' rannuna. siagang inakke rie'mo ku pikkiri' ri sesena proyek pribadi ca'di ku ero' appakkaramula ri bulang se're.

STORIES FROM HORROR| Concentration Camps in My Neighborhood

Hi there. Welcome to this podcast, from the Canary Islands to the world,

This is a raw, unfiltered look at the darkest chapters in history. In each episode, I explore dictatorships, hate crimes, and regimes of terror that left indelible scars on humanity. Silenced voices, forgotten memories, and uncomfortable truths that need to be told.

When we hear about concentration camps, we think of the Nazis, but there may be one in your city or neighborhood, like mine.
The first one was located on the military grounds of the La Isleta peninsula, in the capital of Gran Canaria. It opened on July 31, 1936, with 315 prisoners; months later, 1,145 people were already incarcerated. The brutality was such that many prisoners rightly called them "punishment camps" rather than internment camps. When they weren't tortured or subjected to forced labor, they were taken to the shooting range, where they were shot.

And that concludes  today's episode, see you in the next one!

If you have any comments or suggestions for future episodes, feel free to drop me a comment.

MIGRANT LIVES| Dark Times Await Us.

Hello, how are you? Welcome to this podcast, from the Canary Islands to the world.

Stories of struggle, resilience and hope of migrants seeking a better future, facing cultural, legal and personal challenges in new horizons.

Imagine the situation: you decide to migrate, cross two deserts, and, if you survive, you end up in the limbo of Tunisia or the hell of Libya.

There are threats to sink boats in the middle of the sea, as in Spain with the Open Arms, and to abandon migrants detained off the Tunisian coast while trying to cross the Mediterranean in the desert...

Dark times await us.

And that concludes this today's episode, see you in the next one!

Dunkle Zeiten erwarten uns.

Und damit beende ich die heutige Folge. Wir sehen uns in der nächsten!
