This year marks 81 years of a merciless war that ended, according to estimates, the lives of some 11 million human beings.

The term holocaust comes from ancient Greek and means "to burn everything." Before World War II, this word was sometimes used to describe the death of a large group of people, but since 1945 it has become almost synonymous with the murder of European Jews during World War II. That is why we use the term “the Holocaust,” with a capital letter. Jews also use the term: Shoah, which in Hebrew means "catastrophe", a curious word, because in '48, the Palestinians began to use "nakba" for theirs.

At the conference, 15 senior Nazi officials, SS and police officers, and representatives of the operational departments of the Nazi government, met in the Berlin suburb of Wannsee to coordinate the implementation of the so-called “Final Solution of the Jewish Question.”

To say that the Nazis mainly targeted those people who, belonging to a group, did not fit into their model of society. In this case, the victims were Jewish people, gypsies, homosexuals, people with disabilities, people with left-wing ideology or Jehovah's Witnesses.

In the first months of the occupation of Poland, the Nazis also murdered thousands of Jewish and non-Jewish citizens.

In this period, the Nazis planned to deport Jews from occupied territories to nature reserve areas in Poland or, after the victory over the Soviet Union, to such annexed territories. There is also the idea of deporting Jews to the island of Madagascar. Just like Netanyahu, who intends to deport them to the Congo

Este año se cumplen 81 años de una inmisericorde guerra que acabó, según estimaciones con la vida de unos 11 millones de seres humanos. 

El término holocausto proviene del griego antiguo y significa "quemarlo todo". Antes de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, esta palabra era ya, en ocasiones, utilizada para describir la muerte de un gran grupo de personas, pero desde 1945 se ha convertido casi en sinónimo del asesinato de judíos europeos durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Por eso, utilizamos el término " Holocausto", con mayúscula.  Los judíos también utilizan el término: Shoah, que en hebreo significa "catástrofe", palabra curiosa, porque en el 48, los palestinos empezaron a usar "nakba" para la suya.

La Conferencia de Wannsee se celebró el 20 de enero de 1942. En la conferencia, 15 altos funcionarios nazis, oficiales de las SS y de la policía, y representantes de los departamentos operativos del gobierno nazi, se reunieron en el suburbio berlinés de Wannsee para coordinar la implementación de la tan -llamada “Solución final de la cuestión judía”.

De esos 11 millones,  se calcula que murieron víctimas de este exterminio algo más de seis millones de judíos, aparte de unos 800 000 gitanos, cuatro millones de prisioneros de guerra soviéticos o víctimas de la ocupación (fueron también objeto de exterminio sistemático), polacos e individuos calificados de asociales de varias nacionalidades (presos políticos, homosexuales, discapacitados físicos o psíquicos, delincuentes comunes, etc.)

Hasta aquí, este especial se va a parecer al del año pasado. Y no . No me voy a callar. La diferencia es la guerra en Gaza. En serio, condeno y aborrezco el ataque del día 7 de octubre, y quiero con todas mis fuerzas que los rehenes vuelvan a sus casas. מתוך אותם 11 מיליון, ההערכה היא שקצת יותר משישה מיליון יהודים מתו כקורבנות של השמדה זו, מלבד כ-800,000 צוענים, ארבעה מיליון שבויי מלחמה סובייטים או קורבנות הכיבוש (גם הם היו נתונים להשמדה שיטתית), פולנים ו אנשים המסווגים כא-חברתיים בני לאומים שונים (אסירים פוליטיים, הומוסקסואלים, מוגבלים פיזית או נפשית, פושעים פשוטים וכו')

עד לנקודה זו, המיוחד הזה הולך להיות דומה לזה של השנה שעברה. ולא . אני לא אסתום את הפה. ההבדל הוא המלחמה בעזה. ברצינות, אני מגנה ומתעב את הפיגוע ב-7 באוקטובר, ואני רוצה בכל כוחי שהחטופים יחזרו לבתיהם. עם זאת, אני רוצה לזכור שיש שיטות מסוימות, שהוקעו על ידי חיילים ישראלים במילואים, שמזכירות לי הרבה את מה שסבלו קורבנות השואה: גירוש המוני של האוכלוסייה, מדיניות אדמה חרוכה או הניסיון לגרש אותם ארץ אחרת.

בתקופה זו תכננו הנאצים לגרש יהודים משטחים כבושים לאזורי שמורות טבע בפולין או, לאחר הניצחון על ברית המועצות, לשטחים שסופחו כאמור. יש גם רעיון של גירוש יהודים לאי מדגסקר. בדיוק כמו נתניהו, שמתכוון לגרש אותם לקונגו

יצוין כי התוכניות הנאציות אינן כוללות דיור או מתקנים דומים אחרים, אך הן כללו לעתים קרובות החרמת רכוש יהודי. במציאות, הנאצים ציפו לשיעור תמותה גבוה בקרב היהודים. האם עקירת האוכלוסייה לעזה נשמעת לך מוכרת?

כמובן: הקורבנות תמיד יהיו בזכרוני. כואב לראות אישים מסוימים מימין קיצוני מבקרים באושוויץ ומשתתפים בכנס על אנטישמיות בעיר הפולנית קרקוב, שאורגן על ידי האגודה היהודית האירופית. אם יש משהו שמאחד אותם, בנוסף לאמירות הגזעניות שלהם, לאידיאולוגיה הימנית הקיצונית ולבריתם ולחברתם עם פשיסטים אחרים, זו תמיכתם המפורשת באפרטהייד הישראלי ובהשמדה שמתבצעת בעזה.

W tym roku mija 81 lat bezlitosnej wojny, która według szacunków położyła kres życiu około 11 milionów ludzi.

Termin holokaust pochodzi ze starożytnej Grecji i oznacza „spalić wszystko”. Przed II wojną światową słowem tym czasami określano śmierć dużej grupy ludzi, jednak od 1945 roku stało się ono niemal synonimem mordu na europejskich Żydach podczas II wojny światowej. Dlatego używamy terminu „Holokaust” z dużej litery. Żydzi używają także terminu: Shoah, które po hebrajsku oznacza „katastrofę”, co jest ciekawym słowem, ponieważ w 1948 roku Palestyńczycy zaczęli używać „nakba” na określenie swoich.

Konferencja w Wannsee odbyła się 20 stycznia 1942 r. Podczas konferencji 15 wyższych urzędników nazistowskich, funkcjonariuszy SS i policji oraz przedstawicieli wydziałów operacyjnych rządu nazistowskiego zebrało się na berlińskich przedmieściach Wannsee, aby koordynować realizację tzw. – zwane „ostatecznym rozwiązaniem kwestii żydowskiej”.

Powiedzieć, że naziści atakowali głównie te osoby, które należąc do jakiejś grupy, nie pasowały do ich modelu społeczeństwa. W tym przypadku ofiarami byli Żydzi, Cyganie, homoseksualiści, osoby niepełnosprawne, osoby o ideologii lewicowej czy Świadkowie Jehowy.

Szacuje się, że z tych 11 milionów Żydów zginęło jako ofiary tej eksterminacji nieco ponad 6 milionów Żydów, oprócz około 800 000 Cyganów, 4 milionów sowieckich jeńców wojennych czy ofiar okupacji (oni także podlegali systematycznej eksterminacji), Polaków i osoby zaklasyfikowane jako aspołeczne różnych narodowości (więźniowie polityczni, homoseksualiści, niepełnosprawni fizycznie lub umysłowo, zwykli przestępcy itp.)

Na razie ta oferta specjalna będzie podobna do ubiegłorocznej. I nie . Nie zamilknę. Różnica polega na wojnie w Gazie. Poważnie, potępiam atak z 7 października i brzydzę się nim i z całych sił pragnę, aby zakładnicy wrócili do swoich domów. Chcę jednak pamiętać, że istnieją pewne praktyki, potępiane przez izraelskich żołnierzy w rezerwie, które bardzo przypominają mi o tym, co wycierpiały ofiary Zagłady: masowe wysiedlenia ludności, polityka spalonej ziemi czy próba ich deportacji do innego kraju.

Niemiecka inwazja na Polskę we wrześniu 1939 r. wyznacza początek nowego, bardziej radykalnego etapu prześladowań Żydów. Emigracja w celu ucieczki przed wojną jest praktycznie niemożliwa. Okupacja Polski oznacza, że 1,7 miliona polskich Żydów znajduje się pod władzą nazistowskich Niemiec. Przebywają w gettach, żydowskich dzielnicach mieszkalnych przypominających więzienia. Często kilka rodzin musi dzielić ten sam dom. Panuje głód i brak opieki medycznej. Żydzi nie mogą opuszczać getta bez pozwolenia i zazwyczaj są zmuszani do pracy przymusowej. W pierwszych miesiącach okupacji Polski naziści zamordowali także tysiące obywateli pochodzenia żydowskiego i nieżydowskiego.

W tym okresie hitlerowcy planowali deportację Żydów z terenów okupowanych na tereny rezerwatów przyrody w Polsce lub po zwycięstwie nad Związkiem Radzieckim na tereny zaanektowane. Pojawia się także pomysł deportacji Żydów na Madagaskar. Podobnie jak Netanjahu, który zamierza ich deportować do Konga

Należy zaznaczyć, że plany hitlerowskie nie przewidywały mieszkań ani innych podobnych obiektów, często jednak przewidywały konfiskatę mienia żydowskiego. W rzeczywistości naziści spodziewali się dużej śmiertelności wśród Żydów. Czy przesiedlenia ludności do Gazy brzmią znajomo?

Oczywiście: ofiary zawsze będą w mojej pamięci. Boli widok pewnych osobistości wyraźnie skrajnie prawicowych odwiedzających Auschwitz i uczestniczących w konferencji na temat antysemityzmu w polskim Krakowie, zorganizowanej przez Europejskie Stowarzyszenie Żydów. Jeśli jest coś, co ich łączy, oprócz rasistowskich wypowiedzi, skrajnie prawicowej ideologii oraz sojuszu i koleżeństwa z innymi faszystami, to jest to ich wyraźne poparcie dla izraelskiego apartheidu i eksterminacji, która ma miejsce w Gazie.

Today I'm opening a book that isn't on any bookshelf: the one that is written with each page that transforms us. We travel the world in search of new stories, because reading is crossing borders without a passport. And each story is a cultural compass.

Today I bring you a review of one of the most distinguished Canarian writers: Alonso Quesada, pseudonym of Rafael Romero Quesada, poet, narrator, journalist, and playwright.

Together with Tomás Morales and Saulo Torón, he formed a literary triumvirate known as the "Generation of Three."

He published his first writings in 1904 in the satirical youth magazine El Gran Galeoto, and continued in various local and national newspapers and magazines of the time, such as El Día, El Tribuno, España, La Pluma, La Mañana, La Publicidad, and Ecos.

He excelled, in literary terms, in both poetry and prose, employing existential bitterness and irony as key elements of his writing. Furthermore, his plays are notable for the tragedies of their characters.

Hoy abro un libro que no está en ninguna estantería: el que se escribe con cada página que nos transforma. Viajamos por todo el planeta buscando nuevas historias, porque leer es cruzar fronteras sin pasaporte. Y cada historia es una brújula cultural.

Hoy les traigo la reseña de uno de los más insignes escritores canarios: Alonso Quesada, seudónimo de Rafael Romero Quesada,  poeta, narrador, periodista y autor dramático. 

Formó junto a Tomás Morales y Saulo Torón todo un triunvirato literario que se denominó "Generación de los tres”. 

Publica sus primeros escritos en 1904, en la revista satírico juvenil El Gran Galeoto, y continúa en diversos periódicos y revistas de la época, locales y nacionales, como El Día, El Tribuno, España, La Pluma, La Mañana, La Publicidad o Ecos. 

Destacó, literariamente hablando, tanto en poesía como en prosa, siendo la amargura existencial y la ironía , parte de sus recursos literarios. Además, su teatro destaca por las tragedias de sus personajes.

Heute präsentiere ich Ihnen eine Rezension eines der bedeutendsten kanarischen Schriftsteller: Alonso Quesada, Pseudonym von Rafael Romero Quesada, Dichter, Erzähler, Journalist und Dramatiker.

Zusammen mit Tomás Morales und Saulo Torón bildete er ein literarisches Triumvirat, die sogenannte „Generation der Drei“.

Seine ersten Texte veröffentlichte er 1904 in der satirischen Jugendzeitschrift „El Gran Galeoto“. Anschließend schrieb er für verschiedene lokale und nationale Zeitungen und Zeitschriften jener Zeit, darunter „El Día“, „El Tribuno“, „España“, „La Pluma“, „La Mañana“, „La Publicidad“ und „Ecos“.

شكّل مع توماس موراليس وساولو تورون ثلاثياً أدبياً عُرف باسم "جيل الثلاثة".

نشر أولى كتاباته عام ١٩٠٤ في مجلة الشباب الساخرة "إل غران غاليوتو"، واستمر في النشر في العديد من الصحف والمجلات المحلية والوطنية في ذلك الوقت، مثل "إل ديا"، و"إل تريبونو"، و"إسبانيا"، و"لا بلوما"، و"لا مانيانا"، و"لا بوبليسيداد"، و"إيكوس".

برع أدبيًا في الشعر والنثر على حد سواء، مستخدمًا المرارة الوجودية والسخرية كعنصرين أساسيين في كتاباته. كما تتميز مسرحياته بمآسي شخصياتها.

Por fín una buena noticia para el activismo hacia las personas migrantes: Sarah Mardini, famosa por salvar,  en 2015,  a 18 refugiados llevándoles a nado hasta las costas de Lesbos junto a su hermana olímpica, fue acusada de tráfico de personas, espionaje y pertenencia a organización criminal, todo un caso mediático contra los derechos humanos, en especial el de migrar.

Finally some good news for migrant activism: Sarah Mardini, famous for saving 18 refugees in 2015 by swimming them to the shores of Lesbos with her Olympic sister, was accused of human trafficking, espionage and belonging to a criminal organization, a media case against human rights, especially the right to migrate.

STORIES FROM HORROR | Eco-activism in Brazil

This episode isn't comfortable. It doesn't intend to be. Today I open pages that many would like to close: dictatorships that crushed voices, crimes hidden under flags, silences that still scream. You will hear fragments of memory and analysis that are unsettling. Because to remember is to resist. Because forgetting is also violence.

Imagine walking along a path where the trees have centuries of history, but the ground is stained with diesel and ash. Since 2012, more than 300 environmental defenders have been murdered in Brazil. They are not just numbers. They are Indigenous leaders, rubber tappers, and farmers who stood between a chainsaw and a sacred tree.

The horror here has names: illegal mining, land grabbing, and predatory agribusiness. It's a monster without a face, but one that shoots from the shadows.

Remember Dorothy Stang, a 73-year-old nun. Her "crime" was protecting a reserve. In 2005, while walking along a rural path, she was intercepted by two hitmen. She took out her Bible and began to read the Beatitudes. The response? Six shots at point-blank range.

Or consider Bruno Pereira and Dom Phillips, who disappeared in the Javari Valley in 2022. Their dismembered bodies were found in a shallow grave.

The true horror isn't just the violence; it's the impunity. In the jungle, silence is complicity. While the world consumes cheap timber and meat from deforested areas, the guardians of the Amazon fall one by one in a war that no one has declared, but that we are all funding.

Este episodio no es cómodo. No pretende serlo. Hoy abro las páginas que muchos quisieran cerrar: dictaduras que aplastaron voces, crímenes que se escondieron bajo banderas, silencios que aún gritan. Escucharás fragmentos de memoria y análisis que incomodan. Porque recordar es resistir. Porque el olvido también es violencia.

Imagina caminar por un sendero donde los árboles tienen siglos de historia, pero el suelo está manchado de diesel y ceniza. Desde 2012, más de 300 defensores ambientales han sido asesinados en Brasil. No son solo números. Son líderes indígenas, recolectores de caucho y campesinos que se interpusieron entre una motosierra y un árbol sagrado.

El horror aquí tiene nombres propios: la minería ilegal, el acaparamiento de tierras y el agronegocio depredador. Es un monstruo que no tiene rostro, pero que dispara desde las sombras

Recordemos a Dorothy Stang, una monja de 73 años. Su "crimen" fue proteger una reserva. En 2005, mientras caminaba por un sendero rural, fue interceptada por dos sicarios. Ella sacó su Biblia y comenzó a leer las Bienaventuranzas. ¿La respuesta? Seis disparos a quemarropa.

O pensemos en Bruno Pereira y Dom Phillips, desaparecidos en el Valle del Javarí en 2022. Sus cuerpos fueron encontrados en una fosa poco profunda, desmembrados.

They are not just numbers. They are Indigenous leaders, rubber tappers, and farmers who stood between a chainsaw and a sacred tree.

The horror here has names: illegal mining, land grabbing, and predatory agribusiness. It's a monster without a face, but one that shoots from the shadows.

Remember Dorothy Stang, a 73-year-old nun. Her "crime" was protecting a reserve. In 2005, while walking along a rural path, she was intercepted by two hitmen. She took out her Bible and began to read the Beatitudes. The response? Six shots at point-blank range.

Or consider Bruno Pereira and Dom Phillips, who disappeared in the Javari Valley in 2022. Their dismembered bodies were found in a shallow grave.

The true horror isn't just the violence; it's the impunity. In the jungle, silence is complicity. While the world consumes cheap timber and meat from deforested areas, the guardians of the Amazon fall one by one in a war that no one has declared, but that we are all funding.

تخيّلوا أنكم تسيرون على دربٍ لأشجارٍ تحمل في طياتها قروناً من التاريخ، لكن الأرض مُلطّخةٌ بالديزل والرماد. منذ عام ٢٠١٢، قُتل أكثر من ٣٠٠ مُدافعٍ عن البيئة في البرازيل. إنهم ليسوا مجرد أرقام، بل هم قادةٌ من السكان الأصليين، وجامعو مطاط، ومزارعون وقفوا بين المنشار الكهربائي وشجرةٍ مُقدّسة.

للرعب هنا أسماء: التعدين غير القانوني، والاستيلاء على الأراضي، والزراعة التجارية المُفترسة. إنه وحشٌ بلا وجه، لكنه ينقضّ من الظلال.

تذكروا دوروثي ستانغ، الراهبة البالغة من العمر 73 عامًا. كانت "جريمتها" حماية محمية. في عام 2005، بينما كانت تسير على طريق ريفي، اعترضها رجلان مسلحان. أخرجت إنجيلها وبدأت تقرأ المواعظ على الجبل. ما كان رد الفعل؟ ست رصاصات من مسافة قريبة جدًا.

There's a common comment that people say migrants don't come by plane. They might, but only those with more purchasing power. Others are denied access and use the money they would otherwise spend to pay for a place on a small boat or canoe.

They also say there's no war in Africa, but there are dictatorships from which some Europeans benefit.

Hola, ¿qué tal ? Bienvenidos a Conviviendo entre Culturas,  desde Canarias para el mundo. 

En este episodio, nos sumergimos en las vidas que desafían la distancia, el idioma y el miedo. Migrantes que dejaron atrás lo conocido para abrazar lo incierto. Escucharás relatos de coraje cotidiano, de seres humanos que reinventan su mundo, de jóvenes que transforman el rechazo en fuerza. Porque migrar no es solo moverse: es reconstruirse.   

Hay un comentario muy socorrido que dice que si las personas migrantes no vienen en avión, no son migrantes. Es posible que vengan, pero los que tienen más poder adquisitivo. A otros se les niega y usan el dinero que cuesta para pagar el puesto en la patera o el cayuco.

Dicen también que no hay guerras en áfrica, pero sí dictaduras de las que algunos europeos se benefician.

Oft hört man die Frage, warum Migranten nicht mit dem Flugzeug kommen. Das könnten sie, aber nur diejenigen mit mehr Kaufkraft. Anderen wird die Einreise verwehrt, und sie verwenden das Geld, das sie sonst ausgeben würden, für einen Platz in einem kleinen Boot oder Kanu.

Man sagt auch, es gäbe keinen Krieg in Afrika, aber Diktaturen, von denen einige Europäer profitieren.

هناك تساؤلٌ شائع: لماذا لا يأتي المهاجرون بالطائرة؟ قد يفعلون، لكن فقط من يملكون القدرة الشرائية الأكبر. أما الآخرون، فيُحرمون من السفر، فيستخدمون المال الذي كانوا سينفقونه على استئجار قاربٍ صغير أو زورق.

ويقولون أيضاً إنه لا توجد حروب في أفريقيا، لكن هناك أنظمة ديكتاتورية يستفيد منها بعض الأوروبيين.
