Hace un año, tal y como explico en el vídeo, retomé mi carrera universitaria tras ver una serie coreana y una película de Tom Hanks. 

Bueno. Quiero anunciarles que ¡aprobé! Nunca pensé que llegaría  a vivir el momento de verme en tercero de mi carrera de Estudios Ingleses. Sí. He tardado años, pero a veces lo que tarda en llegar, parece que se disfruta más, aunque hayan cambiado las prioridades. Sí, hice mucho voluntariado y dos ciclos de Formación Profesional, pero mi sueño siempre fue este.

En conclusión; que nada ni nadie te pare.

A year ago, as I explain in the video, I resumed my university studies after watching a Korean series and a Tom Hanks movie.

Well, I want to announce that I passed! I never thought I'd get to experience the moment of being in my third year of my English Studies degree. Yes. It took me years, but sometimes the time it takes to arrive seems more enjoyable, even if priorities have changed. Yes, I did a lot of volunteering and two vocational training courses, but this was always my dream.

In conclusion: let nothing and no one stop you.

Wie ich im Video erkläre, habe ich vor einem Jahr mein Studium wieder aufgenommen, nachdem ich eine koreanische Serie und einen Tom-Hanks-Film gesehen hatte.

Nun, ich möchte verkünden: Ich habe bestanden! Ich hätte nie gedacht, dass ich jemals im dritten Jahr meines Anglistikstudiums sein würde. Ja, es hat Jahre gedauert, aber manchmal scheint die Zeit, die man braucht, um anzukommen, angenehmer zu sein, auch wenn sich die Prioritäten geändert haben. Ja, ich habe viel Freiwilligenarbeit geleistet und zwei Berufsausbildungen absolviert, aber das war immer mein Traum.

Zusammenfassend: Lass dich von nichts und niemandem aufhalten.

Und damit beende ich die heutige Folge. Wir sehen uns in der nächsten!

Il y a un an, comme je l'explique dans la vidéo, j'ai repris mes études universitaires après avoir regardé une série coréenne et un film de Tom Hanks.

Eh bien, je tiens à vous annoncer que j'ai réussi ! Je n'aurais jamais imaginé vivre ce moment de ma troisième année de licence d'anglais. Oui. Cela m'a pris des années, mais parfois, le temps nécessaire pour y arriver semble plus agréable, même si les priorités ont changé. Oui, j'ai fait beaucoup de bénévolat et deux formations professionnelles, mais cela a toujours été mon rêve.

En conclusion : ne laissez rien ni personne vous arrêter.

Medicare vs. Spanish Health System

My name is Patricia. When I started the podcast, I made it clear I wanted to share ideas, to spark curiosity. Follow me to discover new things.

Medicare is a social security coverage program administered by the United States government, which provides medical care to all people 65 and older, or younger, who are considered disabled due to serious health problems such as cancer or kidney failure requiring dialysis.

But coverage doesn't mean free, because this is health insurance, and they have to pay the insurance premium plus the pharmaceutical co-pay.

Free? It's not.

But if you look up medications for these seniors in Spain, you'll see that everyone is covered, even those, and especially women, who were unable to work at the time.

And if you can pick up your medications, you're lucky to live in Spain, because if this were the United States, well, it would be a land of plenty.

I know, when we complain about how bad the service is in Spain, always remember Medicare, because the truth is, when it comes to bad things, we have nothing to complain about.

English Studies provide the essential knowledge and skills for training future professionals in fields that require knowledge of the English language and culture, such as teaching, international administration, archival and library science, linguistic consultancy (commercial, legal, forensic, technical-professional and other specific purposes), artistic and literary creation, documentation and knowledge management, cultural and tourism management, publishing and media industry, multimedia information and communication technologies, and translation.

When I read about cultural management, a skill shared with sociocultural animation, I discovered that studying this degree is necessary.

Retomándo los estudios

Durante el  verano, decidí volver a estudiar la carrera y, en una semana, he recuperado la fe. Ser profesora siempre fue mi prioridad, pero sin dejar de luchar por los derechos humanos. No reniego de la animación sociocultural, ni de la integración, y menos aún de mi voluntariado. Simplemente, tenía la espinita clavada por haber dejado la universidad. Hay gente que dice que no le hace falta. A mí sí.

Leyendo a los autores ingleses, ya he descubierto que puedo aplicar cositas a la filología inglesa o estudios ingleses, como se llama ahora.

During the summer, I decided to go back to studying for my degree and, within a week, I regained my faith. Being a teacher was always my priority, but without giving up fighting for human rights. I don't deny sociocultural animation, or integration, and even less so my volunteer work. I just had a thorn in my side for having left university. There are people who say that they don't need it. I do.

Reading English authors, I have already discovered that I can apply some things to English Philology or English Studies, as it is called now.

Im Sommer beschloss ich, mein Studium wiederaufzunehmen, und innerhalb einer Woche fand ich meinen Glauben zurück. Lehrerin zu sein war immer meine Priorität, ohne jedoch den Kampf für die Menschenrechte aufzugeben. Ich leugne die soziokulturelle Animation nicht, oder Integration, und noch weniger meine ehrenamtliche Arbeit. Mir war einfach ein Dorn im Auge, dass ich die Universität verlassen hatte. Es gibt Leute, die sagen, sie bräuchten das nicht. Ich schon.

Als ich englische Autoren las, habe ich bereits festgestellt, dass ich kann einiges auf die Englische Philologie oder Anglistik, wie es heute heißt, anwenden.

Pendant l'été, j'ai décidé de reprendre mes études pour obtenir mon diplôme et, en une semaine, j'ai retrouvé la foi. Être enseignante a toujours été ma priorité, mais sans renoncer à me battre pour les droits de l'homme. Je ne renie pas l'animation socioculturelle, ou l'intégration, et encore moins mon travail bénévole. J'avais juste une épine dans le pied d'avoir quitté l'université. Il y a des gens qui disent qu'ils n'en ont pas besoin. Moi, si.

En lisant des auteurs anglais, j'ai déjà découvert que j'avais je peux appliquer certaines choses à la philologie anglaise ou aux études anglaises, comme on l'appelle maintenant.

خلال الصيف، قررت العودة إلى الدراسة للحصول على شهادتي، وفي غضون أسبوع، استعدت إيماني. كان التدريس دائمًا على رأس أولوياتي، ولكن دون التخلي عن النضال من أجل حقوق الإنسان. لا أنكر التنشيط الاجتماعي والثقافي، أو التكامل، وحتى أقل من ذلك عملي التطوعي. لقد شعرت بشوكة في خاصرتي بسبب تركي للجامعة. هناك أشخاص يقولون إنهم لا يحتاجون إليها. أنا أحتاج إليها.

من خلال قراءة المؤلفين الإنجليز، اكتشفت بالفعل أنني يمكن تطبيق بعض الأشياء على فقه اللغة الإنجليزية أو الدراسات الإنجليزية، كما يطلق عليها الآن.

Κατά τη διάρκεια του καλοκαιριού, αποφάσισα να επιστρέψω στις σπουδές για το πτυχίο μου και, μέσα σε μια εβδομάδα, ξαναπήρα την πίστη μου. Το να είμαι δάσκαλος ήταν πάντα προτεραιότητά μου, αλλά χωρίς να εγκαταλείψω τον αγώνα για τα ανθρώπινα δικαιώματα. Δεν αρνούμαι το κοινωνικοπολιτισμικό animation ή την ενσωμάτωση, και ακόμη λιγότερο την εθελοντική μου εργασία. Απλώς είχα ένα αγκάθι στο πλευρό μου που άφησα το πανεπιστήμιο. Υπάρχουν άνθρωποι που λένε ότι δεν το χρειάζονται. το κάνω.

Διαβάζοντας Άγγλους συγγραφείς, έχω ήδη ανακαλύψει ότι μπορώ να εφαρμόσω κάποια πράγματα στην Αγγλική Φιλολογία ή στις Αγγλικές Σπουδές, όπως λέγεται τώρα.

Yaz boyunca, derecemi almak için çalışmaya geri dönmeye karar verdim ve bir hafta içinde inancımı geri kazandım. Öğretmen olmak her zaman önceliğimdi, ancak insan hakları için savaşmaktan vazgeçmedim. Sosyokültürel animasyonu inkar etmiyorum, veya entegrasyon ve hatta gönüllü çalışmam daha da az. Üniversiteyi bıraktığım için içimde bir diken vardı. Buna ihtiyaç duymadıklarını söyleyen insanlar var. Benim var.

De nuevo, el edadismo

Anoche estuve viendo este reportaje y , la verdad, me hizo reflexionar mucho porque hablaba de la franja de edad, a partir de los 50, en la que me incluyo, y las dificultades para encontrar un empleo, cómo varios de los protagonistas fueron despreciados en las entrevistas de empleo y cómo de repente, consiguieron el trabajo. 

Last night I was watching this documentary and, honestly, it made me think a lot because it talked about the age group, from 50 onwards, which I include myself in, and the difficulties in finding a job, how several of the protagonists were rejected in job interviews and how suddenly, they got the job.

Gestern Abend habe ich mir diesen Dokumentarfilm angesehen und er hat mich ehrlich gesagt sehr zum Nachdenken gebracht, weil er über die Altersgruppe ab 50 Jahren sprach, zu der ich mich selbst zähle, und über die Schwierigkeiten, einen Job zu finden, wie mehrere der Protagonisten abgelehnt wurden bei Vorstellungsgesprächen und wie plötzlich sie den Job bekamen.

Hier soir, je regardais ce documentaire et, honnêtement, cela m'a fait beaucoup réfléchir parce qu'il parlait de la tranche d'âge, à partir de 50 ans, dans laquelle je m'inclus, et des difficultés à trouver un emploi, comment plusieurs des protagonistes ont été rejetés lors des entretiens d'embauche et comment ils ont soudainement obtenu le poste.

كنت أشاهد هذا الفيلم الوثائقي ليلة أمس، وبصراحة، جعلني أفكر كثيرًا لأنه تحدث عن الفئة العمرية، من سن الخمسين فصاعدًا، والتي أعتبر نفسي ضمنها، والصعوبات في العثور على وظيفة، وكيف تم رفض العديد من الأبطال. في مقابلات العمل وكيف حصلوا على الوظيفة فجأة.
